I wrote the title of the blog in all caps because that's what it felt like to be in the studio for the two-hour taping session for seven sketches in the upcoming Studio C Season 5. It was like a two-hour four-ring circus. There were multiple things going on every minute. Talk about super sensory overstimulation! I don't mean all of this in a bad way, though. It just never slowed. The kids and I had managed to score tickets last week to a taping via the lottery that BYUTV has taken to holding to accommodate all of the people who want to see them tape a show. How many people? They told us 20,000 people registered for the taping we got to see. Twenty Thousand.
I'm just here to say that the upcoming season is going to hilarious. The seven sketches we saw included another episode of Adam's Brain being played by other members of the cast as he is attending a party; a Spanish-version of a soap opera scene; trick-or-treating at Halloween as experienced by a foreign visitor; and the social betting that goes on amongst a group of friends. The set and crew were amazing. The set was divided into two rooms ready to film two scenes back-to-back. When those were done the crew swarmed the stage to completely change out wall colors, furniture, and other props for the next two scenes. While they were doing that members of the cast came out to entertain the audience or they showed other sketches recently filmed for the upcoming season. And there was always music playing from the speakers.
I even encountered old friends from a church ward we lived in fourteen years ago. We've both been gone from that ward for years now and it was serendipitous fun to run into them again. Hello again Holbrooks!!
Liam's nose is still recovering from Scout Camp.
They lined us up about an hour before they let us into the studio. We were the third group in line. It was a long time to stand on our feet, but it was worth it.
Hello Holbrooks!! We had fun walking to the Creamery on Ninth to get ice cream cones while we waited for lining up time.
Post show, down by the set. Notice the walls behind us are grey. Below they are teal blue. I'm holding a tee shirt I caught thrown into the audience by the cast. They threw a whole lot of tee shirts at the audience that night. Being in the 9 o'clock taping was a blast.

We had a great time. It was a nice end to a kind of emotional week with sending Owen off on his mission. We laughed and laughed. At the sketches. Not Owen going away.
